One of the benefits of the new system is that you will be able to see who else is subscribed to your lists (which is only accessible to other members of that list) — so you can easily find, for example, the email address of another parent in your class. You’ll also have the above home page where you can see, at a glance, all of your list subscriptions and manage your own subscriptions if you want to unsubscribe. The Google Groups upgrade also allows you to view an archive of list emails on the web as well as post from the web rather than your email client.

We’re in the process of setting up access and permissions for all of the lists now. You may notice that some list emails are prefixed with the name of the list (e.g. [OC News] or [OC Support]) — this has been extended to all committee lists and will be coming soon to class lists as well. When we’re done, we’ll send a school-wide email on OC News to let everyone know and at that point we will give you the URL to access the OC Google Groups.

Sam Wellers is hosting a book fundraiser for the open classroom. Support this amazing local bookstore and out of whatever you purchase 20% will go to the OC. You just have to mention the OC as you purchase your books. Also their will be a wish list provided by our library so you can buy books to donate to the OC library as well.

Time: Beginning 8:15 AM, for parents wanting to bring siblings. At 8:40 AM, we will begin calling down students, room by room who have turned in their permission slip to the main office.

For: Students and Their Siblings Cost: $10.00, Cash or Check, Make Check out to SLCSD. We are not able to take Medicaid Cards or bill insurance companies, sorry.

What To Do: Fill out the permission slip and return the form along with cash or a check to School Main Office. FluMist or Flu Shots are available.

The OC library is hosting a book fair in the gymnasium with the company we used last year, The Story Cupboard. The book fair will be held on Wednesday and Thursday during PTKs and Friday after school. The teachers will have a wish list table as will the library, and there will be a lot of great books you can add to your collection as well. Please come and bring your checkbook or cash. We cannot accept credit cards.

We are also in need of volunteers for the book fair. There is a sign up sheet on the circulation desk in the library. If you could sign up for an hour block, it would be incredibly helpful. The main tasks are to ensure the tables are stocked and to help check out customers.
