Salt Lake City Open Classroom

Lunch Room

The Open Classroom Lunch Program provides a fresh, healthy meal for our learning and growing children.

We adapt to childrens’ special allergen free requirements such as gluten free or dairy free.  We are proud to provide balanced vegetarian options every day in addition to traditional meals. The food is prepared fresh daily and we avoid food that is prepackaged or filled with preservatives.  Our daily vegetable and fruit choice cart contains several types of fresh fruit and vegetables so there are many attractive options for the kids to choose from.  We also serve hormone free milk and filtered water, no sugar-filled beverages.

For our hard working co-op parents and teachers we sell sustainably farmed coffee and tea at a reasonable price.  Finally, we work to cut down on waste, by buying in bulk and using real dishes and utensils.  Our fruit and vegetable scraps are composted or donated to families with goats, chickens, or worms.  The OC has established a school garden with produce incorporated into our meals as well.

Meals are $3.00 per child or $5.00 per adult.  We also participate in the federal free and reduced lunch program for those students who may need financial assistance to help pay for their meals.  Families may apply at any time throughout the school year, applications are available in the main office.  Please, come join your children for a healthy and delicious lunch in our newly renovated cafeteria!
