How do I find a book in the Alexandria Card Catalog?

  1. Log in on one of the two computers just east of the circulation desk (facing west)
  2. Click on “Library Card Catalog” on the desktop
  3. Enter a search term. You may search by author, title, subject, series name, call number or all words (everything in the book’s records)
  4. Click on the book you want
  5. Scroll down to find out if any copies are checked in

How do I know where a book is in the library?

  • The library’s books are arranged according to the Dewey Decimal System.  Click here to learn more about it.

How long can I keep my books?

  • Kindergartners are allowed to keep their book for 1 week; 1st- through 8th-grade students are allowed to keep theirs for two weeks.

How many books can I check out at a time?

  • Kindergartners may check out 1 book at a time; 1st- through 8th-grade students may check out 2.
